Amber's Angels
Story
Pancare is an organisation that is close to my heart due to the support and funding for research that they provide for upper GI cancers.
Back in 2022 I was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation of the CDH1 gene which significantly increases my risk of developing hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC) and lobular breast cancer.
HDGC is a form of stomach cancer that is often not detected until its late stages. Surveillance is available however due to the nature of this form of cancer being diffuse and hiding in the lining of the stomach, this is not a reliable detection method. As a result, I recently opted to undergo a prophylactic total gastrectomy. This is a recommendation for anyone diagnosed with this condition.
I've created this page to make a difference in this year’s Pancare Unite for Hope event! All donations will go towards Pancare Foundation’s patient support programs and funding into vital research in the fight against pancreatic, liver, biliary, stomach and oesophageal cancers.
To support me, click donate to make a secure online donation to help us reach our fundraising goal. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Thanks so much for your support!
